Korean Sambucus Stem | Dried Elder Stem | 4.2 oz
Kosbee Korean Sambucus Stem is cleaned, dried elder stem — jeopgolmok (접골목), from the Sambucus (elder) tree — grown in Korea, washed and cut, with no additives, into ready-to-brew pieces for a woody, mild, caffeine-free tea.
In the West, Sambucus is best known as elderberry, made from the fruit. In Korea, it's the woody stem that's brewed instead — a plain, mellow cup quite unlike a berry syrup. Each resealable pouch holds 4.2 oz (120 g).
In the West, Sambucus is best known as elderberry, brewed from the fruit. But across East Asia, healers looked instead at the sturdy stem of the elder tree, brewing it into a plain, woody tea. Kosbee selects clean Korean elder stem and dries it well, so you can brew that same simple, mellow cup at home.
The Stem, Not the Berry
Most people know elder as elderberry — the fruit, usually made into syrup. This is the other half of the same tree: the woody stem, which Korea has long brewed as its own kind of plain, mellow tea.
It's a refreshingly different way to enjoy Sambucus, with nothing added.
Clean, Dry Korean Wood, Ready to Brew
A common worry with wood herbs is mold or dirt. Kosbee's elder stem is grown in Korea, washed clean, and fully dried — no mold, no grit — then cut to a size that's easy to simmer.
It is a Product of Korea, grown in Korea's four-season climate, so you just rinse and brew.

How to Brew Korean Sambucus Stem
Rinse 0.35 oz (about 10 g) of stem pieces, add to 1.5 to 2 quarts (1.5 to 2 liters) of water, bring to a boil, then simmer on the lowest heat for 40 minutes to an hour. It has a mellow, woody flavor, easy to drink like water.
For a blend, simmer it with Kosbee siberian ginseng (gasiogapi) or safflower seed for a deeper, rounder cup.
It's firm wood, so never chew or eat it raw — simmer it for tea, then strain out and discard the pieces.
How to Enjoy It Safely
Do not use during pregnancy. Elder stem is traditionally avoided in pregnancy, so if you are pregnant or nursing, do not drink it and talk to your doctor.
Bark and stem can be strong, so if you have a sensitive stomach, start with a lighter brew and enjoy it in moderation.
Never chew or eat the wood raw — simmer it for tea and discard the pieces, and check with your doctor if you take prescription medication.
